The popular game Apex Legends' publisher EA and developer Respawn recently made the announcement that the game's mobile version will be discontinued. Less than a year after its official launch, the firm has decided to make this change, claiming that the game has not lived up to expectations in terms of quality, quantity, and pace. All in-app purchases made with real money will be disabled, and the game will be taken down from app storea.
The Apex Legends console and PC versions will remain available, but gamers will not be reimbursed for any remaining virtual money or Syndicate Gold. Instead, refund claims must be made through a third-party site such as Google Play or the Apple App Store.

Despite the closure of the mobile version, Respawn remains hopeful about the mobile platform's future and looks forward to new chances to serve users. However, no plans have been made public. With Apex Legends Mobile's departure, the Indian gaming industry will have less alternatives for battle royale-style titles. Popular games such as PUBG Mobile, BGMI, Garena Free Fire, and Fortnite are now prohibited in India.
In light of this, SuperGaming, a Pune-based gaming company, has started pre-registration on Google Play for their upcoming game Indus Battle Royale. The game is believed to be largely influenced by Indian culture and mythology, and the gameplay footage and early images reveal a look and feel similar to Apex Legends. This might give Indian players another choice in the battle royale genre.
Apex Legends Mobile was launched to the public in May 2022, although fans of the original game had conflicting feelings about it. The PC version was known for its high-quality visuals and competitive setting, however the mobile version struggled with difficulty and the bots were thought to be easy to defeat. Furthermore, the game required a smartphone with a moderate to high specification to run, which would have restricted its potential in India. In example, the popular game Call of Duty, which was released in 2019, has over 100 million downloads on Google Play, but Apex Legends Mobile has less than ten million.
Finally, the shutdown of Apex Legends Mobile is due to the game falling short of expectations and failing to achieve the standards set by the original PC edition.
